Taxi
The fare from Suvarnabhumi airport to Bangkok is 260 Bahts minimum.
Forget the "touts" in the terminal, and unscrupulous and bluffing drivers who announce exorbitant costs, pretending that it is a very good price in the hope that their victim ignores the actual rates (because they do not wish to apply the fare meter).
To take a taxi, just go to the official counter in the arrival hall: there they write the destination in Thai for the driver.
- in the taxi, check that the driver starts the meter.
- explain that you want to take the toll expressway or not, (40 to 70 Baht, and charges to cutomer).
- surcharge at the airport is 85 Baht (35 + 50).
- fare is 5 Bahts/km, and in case of stop 1.25 B/min
- trip is at least 40 minutes between Bangkok and the airport.
- the fare and surcharge is the same for 1, 2 or 3 passengers.
- Don't forget the tip, if you are satisfied.
By taxi, Bangkok airport (35km) fare with meter is 260 Bahts minimum. Which we must add 20 Bahts per 15 minutes waiting (in case of traffic jam).
Recommendation for your stay: you choose your taxi, and not vice versa. At the airport, resist to the temptation to take taxis to the departures level, the registration of each fare is done because of security.
Limousines
Fews limousine services are available. Trip to Bangkok from 800 Bahts.
Thai Airways offered Bangkok transfert (500 à 650 Bahts) or Pattaya transfert (1500 Bahts). One way rate.
The four Airport Express lines
From Bangkok airport ('Suvarnabhumi'), there are four lines of air-conditioned public buses (BMTA's "Airport Express") which lead to different districts of Bangkok. These lines run in both directions (to/from airport).
Departure (inbound) in the terminal at the 1st floor, gate 8, is a stand reported : 'Airport Express' (not to be confused with the shuttle 'Airport transfer' between terminals).
Schedule : from 5h00 to 24h (5 AM to 12 PM)
One price : 150 Bahts per person [in 2009]

Outbound, to airport, the bus picks passengers up at the bus-stops named 'Airport Express'.
Public bus
Much cheaper, conditioned or not, but they are slower (stop at each station), and sometimes there is no seats. You should know which bus to use and which station you leave. Avoid it while a first visit. Not recommended with bulky or heavy luggage.

The shuttle train Suvarnabhumi Airport Link, is supposed to open in second half 2009, on 12th august, Queen birthday.

topThe train station Hua Takhe is few kilometer away from airport. It can be reached with BMTA buses (15B). The 30 km trip to Hua Lamphong station, is one hour long, in both direction.
rate : 30 Bahts - from 2h (2AM) to 23h (11PM)
Once at Hua Lumphong, you can take a taxi, a tuk-tuk, a bus or the underground. To For Khaosan road, bus 53 ordinary, from the station.
